Unlawful eviction continues in Soshanguve

SANCO General Secretary, Mr Mabitsela Makgabo, with additional SANCO member Mr Albert Ngwezi and Safety and Security Officer, Mr Peter Ngobeni discussing the eviction letter during the meeting on Sunday.

South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) which represents Soshanguve Block FF and GG held a meeting at Soshanguve High School on Sunday.
The meeting was about ongoing illegal evictions that have been plaguing the community since 2009.
The Soshanguve Block M based Ben Boys Properties, also known as B2 is an agency that buys and sells properties and allegedly responsible for the illegal evictions.
Safety and Security officer for SANCO, Mr Peter Ngobeni, said, “Ben and Boys Properties is coming with fraudulent court orders. If a person is evicted, that person must get summons and appear in court, but things like that are not happening”.
Ms Elizabeth Queen Mashaba who is now staying at Soshanguve Block KK was evicted from Soshanguve Block FF in June 2009 without receiving any letter or interdict.
She had been living there with her five grandchildren for almost 17 years.
Now there are people who are living in the yard. “Plenty of cars came full of gangsters who took out my possessions from the house and told me to leave without stating the reason.”
Ben and Boys Properties were not available for comment.
Mr Matsibela Makgabo, general secretary of SANCO, said the law should solve the problem.
“We are taking this matter to the Consumer Protector and we are trying our best to go to High Court and we are also looking for the new rules of eviction have been implemented on the April 1 this year, but eviction that is still on-going”.
The issue has been introduced to the police several times and now SANCO is still waiting for a hearing with the police of Temba Police Station to come and address the allegations that are existing in the community.
